Frequently asked questions

Who are we?

Team Endeavour Racing is a small charitable not for profit company.   We support Wounded, Injured and sick serving military personnel and veterans.

What do we do?

We train and race small powerboats, more commonly known as Zapcats or Thundercats.  Each boat has a driver and co-driver who work as a team, very similar to motorbike sidecar racing.

How fit do I have to be?

You need to be relatively fit, but all levels of fitness can race.  The main thing is working as a team and stamina.  Your military ethos will go a long way.

What role can I undertake?

It's all in the name !  Team Endeavor Racing has many roles to support the race crew.  We have 6 boats, which need support from mechanics, to shore support, admin support and photographers.  We will soon be looking to safety boat support.

Race training and medicals

In order to race, everyone has to pass a medical examination.  No matter what your injury, you can and will be accommodated.  You will then have to sit a short examination on race rules and safety procedures.  All drivers will have to complete their RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course.

Where do I race and train?

Training is predominantly done in the Solent or at Marchwood Basin in Southampton.  Race events this year have been at Newquay, Plymouth and Bournemouth.  All boats are stored at Southampton where we carry out routine maintenance.

Who can join?

Any WIS personnel and veteran can join.  Family members can be considered over the age of 16 yrs.

What else can I do?

You can help as support crew. mechanic, maritime 1st Aid, admin support, web designer and photographer.  Next year we hope to train some team members as safety boat crew.

What will I get out of it?

You will get a sense of achievement.  You will get your mojo, bonding as a team in the same way you did in the military.  A sense of humour and  military banter is essential.
