We train and race small powerboats, more commonly known as Procats, Zapcats or Thundercats.  Each boat has a driver and co-driver who work as a team, very similar to motorbike sidecar racing.

How fit do I have to be?

You need to be relatively fit, but all levels of fitness can race.  The main thing is working as a team and stamina.  Your military ethos will go a long way.

Your personal fitness will undoubtedly increase with participation in Procat activities.

In order to race, everyone has to pass a medical examination.  No matter what your injury, you can and will be accommodated.  You will then have to sit a short examination on race rules and safety procedures.  All drivers will have to complete their RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course.

Training is predominantly done in the Solent or at the Royal Navy Diving Lake, HMS Excellent, Portsmouth.

Race events next year will see racing and training at various locations in the UK as per the OCRDA UK racing circuit.  All boats are stored at our yard in Gosport, Hants, where we carry out routine maintenance.
